Universal Healthcare is Needed to Compete in Life Expectancy

Image
By: Andy Wyatt It doesn't matter if you live in the city with plenty of healthcare access or in the rural pockets of America where there might be very little to no healthcare resources. Humans need healthcare to live.  Access to healthcare in a modern country should not be an issue I have to cover in one of my blogs. It's not about being a radical leftie. We will get to data that nearly 30% of Republican voters and 80% of democratic voters support universal healthcare. Still, one issue that's not talked about enough is the price of getting sick when you are a working adult.  Many times when workers in rural parts of America get sick, they still put on their boots and go to work; rain, snow, and Ice aren't going to stop most hard-working Americans from punching that clock to get a check the following Friday. Marianne Williamson said it best via Twitter, "We don't' have a healthcare system, we have a sickness care system. Why are Americans so sick to beg...

Universal Basic Income as a Safety Net For American Workers

By: Andy Wyatt Micheal Tubbs at the launch of his UBI experiment in Stockton  Universal Basic Income is more than just a policy solution to combat workplace automation. Andrew Yang popularized his UBI plan in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.  "The mission in this campaign has to be for us to disentangle economic value and human value, say they are not the same things, and make this case to our fellow Americans that we each have intrinsic value as citizens, as human beings, and as owners and shareholders of the richest country in the history of the world."-Andrew Yang, 2020 Democratic primary debates.  We know from recent UBI pilots such as the Stockton Basic Income program that gave some participants $500 each month. They also had a controlled group that did not get $500 a month and followed them and their spending habits; they found that a majority of those that received the extra $500 a month spent that money on home goods, utilities, and other bills...

Marijuana Legalization is About Healthcare and Recreational Freedom

Image
By: Andy Wyatt  January 27, 2022 Image Source:CNN Is America truly a free country if you can be arrested for smoking a plant that mildly alters your thoughts and can help ease your mind after a long stressful day in a capitalistic hellscape? Something that has been proven to be less addictive than coffee . Just like healthcare is a human right, so should be the right to grow, smoke, and profit from the plant.   Any arrest or conviction of marijuana-related drug charges should not only be expunged by the court systems, but victims should be paid in restitution for the damages caused to their reputations. People have lost their livelihoods over a failed drug war. The War on Drugs has been primarily propped up by the legacy status quo media, the establishment of GOP, and the establishment Democratic party. Joe Biden, a Democrat himself, is on record when he was running for 2020  in the primary, saying that we don't know if marijuana is a gateway drug at a town hall ....

Democrats Need to Hit the Reset Button If They Want to Win.

Joe Biden has said it himself. He's a mainstream Democrat; he's not Bernie Sanders . That's true. Bernie Sanders is a left-wing progressive who supports marijuana legalization and understands that we need to end the federal prohibition of cannabis via executive order. Bernie Sanders supports Medicare for All, and Joe Biden favors our current status quo broken healthcare system.  The progressive movement has a unique opportunity to point out their differences in local elections in the upcoming midterms. Biden doesn't have a winning message to run on. Joe Biden's approvals are at a record low , but the left can come out on top if we effectively highlight and communicate the apparent differences between progressive and establishment democrats to voters. It's a verifiable fact Bernie Sanders has a higher approval rating than the sitting president among the American public. Progressives are for universal healthcare during a pandemic. Medicare for all means heal...
