The So Called Extreme Ideas

You may have heard it on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News or hell even your conservative uncle that Bernie Sanders is a radical socialist, but how radical are these ideas actually? The facts are they are not radical at all, in fact many major countries offer a Single Payer healthcare system and they also offer Free or virtually free college to citizens.





Here is a list of countries that unlike the United States offer Universal healthcare:

In America today there are currently some places like San Francisco, NYU medical school and the University of Texas-Austin that have free public college tuition for residents and this isn't something that is new either. The next time your Fox News watching uncle tells you Free College is a pipe dream you can tell him that at one point in America many public colleges were affordable and/or virtually free. In the 1950's you could attend college and pay for it with a part-time job and graduate debt free. Today Student debt has reached a massive $1.6 Trillion dollars and Bernie Sanders plans on eliminating that debt and offering Free tuition at public colleges and universities and this also includes trade schools by taxing Wall Street, the crooks that received a Trillion Dollar bailout from the government read more on this in the Common Dreams article titled "Trillion Dollar Wall Street Bailouts, Bernie Sanders, and the Washington Post" 

Free college is not a radical idea, this is also something many other major countries do and now even some states in the US offer it to their residents, luckily this is something Bernie has normalized but of course you will always have opponents of this position that will call it a handout, but the fact is it's a safety net paid for with taxes just like the roads we drive on, just like the K-12 public schools we send our kids to, just like the police department we call if someone is breaking into your house, just like the library where you get all of your obsolete classic DVD's. These are tax funded services, but this particular tax will be funded by the recipients of the '08 bailout. Here is the full plan on Paying for Tuition Free college from Bernie's site.

Leafly/Trainwreck Today people are still being arrested and given records for a plant that is now legal in 11 states and 33 states for medicinal use as of June 2020. People that are detained in states where it is illegal are sometimes thrown in jail, fined, and given a record. Marijuana Legalization is About Healthcare and Recreational Freedom

Something that has been proven to be less addictive than coffee . Just like healthcare is a human right, so should be the right to grow, smoke, and profit from the plant.   Any arrest or conviction of marijuana-related drug charges should not only be expunged by the court systems, but victims should be paid in restitution for the damages caused to their reputations. People have lost their livelihoods over a failed drug war. Democrats Need to Hit the Reset Button If They Want to Win.

     Joe Biden has said it himself. He's a mainstream Democrat; he's not Bernie Sanders . That's true. Bernie Sanders is a left-wing progressive who supports marijuana legalization and understands that we need to end the federal prohibition of cannabis via executive order. Bernie Sanders supports Medicare for All, and Joe Biden favors our current status quo broken healthcare system.  The progressive movement has a unique opportunity to point out their differences in local elections in the upcoming midterms. Biden doesn't have a winning message to run on. Joe Biden's approvals are at a record low , but the left can come out on top if we effectively highlight and communicate the apparent differences between progressive and establishment democrats to voters. It's a verifiable fact Bernie Sanders has a higher approval rating than the sitting president among the American public.
